Hello everyone, today we have new Glade Art updates! These are specifically for the GA messages:
The Glade Art messages have basically not been upgraded since day one launch (about 1 year, 3 months ago from today). And now they have finally got some upgrades, like the rest of the site has been getting for a long time. Here's a full overview:
Fake real time. The old messages did not used to be real time; they required a page refresh in order to see if there are any new messages in the chat. Well that changed because we now have "fake real time." This makes new messages to appear without having to refresh the page, like on nearly every modern chat service. This uses timed, adaptive polling, AJAX for polling reset, and blah blah. I won't dive into the details here, but technically it is "fake real time." However, you probably won't be able to tell the difference anyways. (Glade Art has no real time features because bloat).
Updated UI, upgraded UX. Yeah, the UI has been updated to look more like the modern GA does. For some reason I made the text contents of the messages white (as pictured above), not green. It kinda looked fine, so I did it. The messages now support indentation (shift + enter as standard), and you can send messages by clicking on the enter key. Also the page called /messages has had a UI update/upgrade. It looks better for me now, but that's subjective. Either way, it looks more like modern Glade Art does. Rounded corners, 1px lines, more black backgrounds, blah blah. Contacts with newest activity are on the top of the list. You can also ignore message requests if you want. The dates/time are in a more readable format on /chat now too.
So yeah, that's it. We finally got an updated Glade Art chat, with a bunch of upgrades. I was considering to add end-to-end encryption too, but I decided not to for now because effort. Perhaps in the future I'll add that though.
Thanks for reading, and enjoy the site! : ) <>
